Extend European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators for VET teachers and trainers

The project

The project  builds on and extends two areas of the European Framework for the Digital Competence of Educators (DigiCompEdu) critical for the practice of VET – Digital Resources and Teaching and Learning. It builds on the report’s intention of the reference framework as a tool for implementing regional and national tools and training programmes. It is designed  to meet the Erasmus+ priority to introduce systematic approaches to, and opportunities for, the initial and continuous professional development of VET teachers, trainers and mentors in both school and work-based settings, with a focus on developing effective digital, open and innovative education and pedagogies.

The project will work across the different sectors of VET. This reflects our focus on pedagogy and the development of digital learning materials as they key aim for the project. Our aim ito to develop new models and programmes which can support teachers and trainers in the use of technology in all sectors of VET practice, including formal and informal learning.  

Project outcomes 

The main results expected during the project are :

  1. A report on the Extension of the European Reference Framework in two key areas 

    Digital pedagogy and Digital resources

  2. Learning scenarios

    The project will produce six learning scenarios for different sectors.

  3. A repository of learning materials and best practice exemplars

    The repository of learning materials and best practice exemplars will includes the development of 12 Open Educational Resources.

  4. A report on innovative online and face to face learning opportunities for professional development for teachers and trainers in the use of technology in VET

    The report will focus on innovative strategies for professional development for VET teachers and trainers on applying digital pedagogy and develop digital Open Educational Resources in school and workplace settings.

  5. An online Community of Practice for VET teachers and trainers in the use of technology for teaching and training in VET

    The CoP will support the needs for communication, resource exchange, collaboration, and relationship building.

The objective of the DigCompEdu framework  is to reflect on existing instruments for educators’ digital competence and to synthesize these into a coherent model that would allow educators at all levels of education to comprehensively assess and develop their pedagogical digital competence.
